MarBEE is a dynamic group of researchers with broad interests in marine biology and is one of the largest of its kind in Ireland. We are undertaking projects to tackle pure, strategic and applied issues, including relationships between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, animal behaviour, population genetics, spatial ecology, evolutionary biology, fisheries biology and the functioning of marine nature reserves. Much of our research aims to provide a scientific basis for the conservation of marine biodiversity and the management of fisheries resources. We take a collaborative approach to much of our research and have received report from a wide range of funding agencies. The group was part of the EU Network of Excellence MARBEF and is now involved in the EU FP7 Oceans of Tomorrow project VECTORS.
