?Professor Michael Barnsley (Australian National University) will give a lecture for a general audience on Monday 31st March at 7pm in G24 Agriculture Building. The talk will also be streamed live on the night and the link is available here...
The book "The Fractal Geometry of Nature" by Mandelbrot is a milestone, marking a major shift in how geometers look at the world. What happened? In accessible terms, Professor Barnsley will explain the interplay between fractals and modern mathematics, and illustrate new applications in digital imaging, 3d printing, and secret codes.
