European Study Group with Industry workshop challenges announced

A list of problems for the upcoming ESGI-118 workshop has been published

Seven challenging problems presented by Irish and international companies will be offered to the participants with expertise in more than one area of mathematics and statistics:

  • Little Data, UK: Anomaly detection within a time series of web behaviour data.
  • Wuppermann Steel, NL: Modelling and investigation of defects occurring in steel galvanisation process.
  • Ashgrove Analytics: Automatic calibration of sensor/detection of sensor position in 3D space.
  • Think Biosolution:  Optimal partitioning of the large distributed databases to minimise data storage costs and computational time.
  • Evolve Technologies: Developing of the control system algorithm for Artificial Pancreas for Type 1 diabetics
  • Rusal: Optimisation of the flow through an Industrial Slurry Storage Tank.
  • Analog Devices: The problem will involve applying mathematical techniques for modelling, control and optimisation of micro-electronic devices.
