Applications of patching methods to quadratic forms

Patching methods have been used in Galois theory for quite some time, mainly to construct Galois extensions with given Galois group. The talk explains a more recent version of patching and its relation to local global principles for algebraic group actions. We then give applications to quadratic forms.
