What do you feel was the most important thing you learned on the module?

Ambassador 2008 Interview

Annette Larkin successfully took part in the Undergraduate Ambassadors Scheme Module in 2008 when she was in the final year of her BA in Mathematical Studies and Sociology degree. In 2009-2010 she enrolled in the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in UCD with a teaching placement in Blackrock College. In April 2010, she kindly agreed to share her experiences about her time on the UAS module and her experiences as a trainee mathematics teacher with Maria Meehan.

Why did you decide to take the UAS module as one of your undergraduate modules?

What have you done since graduating in 2008?

Did taking part in the module influence your decision to pursue a career in teaching mathematics?

One of the things I’ve noticed is that many UAS ambassadors don’t realise how much their confidence grows during the module. Did you notice this?

Do you feel that taking part in the module benefited you during the last year as you studied for your PGDE?

What do you enjoy about teaching maths?

Would you recommend this module to UCD undergraduates? Why?
