Short Biography:

Cillian Ruddy graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering in University College Dublin with a B.E. (Hons) in June 2005. In September 2006 he undertook research work in the Advanced Manufacturing Science Centre under the co-supervision of Eamonn Ahearne and Prof. Gerry Byrne. The area of research is concerned with the development of a uniformity control system for the chemical mechanical planarisation of silicon wafers.

 

Research Project:

Development of Smart Materials

 

Research Interests:

Research interests include the planarisation of silicon wafers using chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) and the application of force in this polishing process. Also of interest is the modelling and characterisation of elastomer materials, and smart materials in general.
