Short Biography:

Daniel Logan graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering in University College Dublin with a B.E.(Hons) in July 2005. In September he undertook a Post Graduate research programme under the guidance of Prof. Gerald Byrne and Dr. Eamonn Ahearne that focuses on the development of high frequency response servo tools. Funding for this project is provided by Enterprise Ireland.

Research Interests:

Daniel's research Interests include the precision grinding of brittle materials. Specifically investigating the brittle-ductile transition and ductile regime material removal.

One of the key deliverables of this research is the design and manufacture of a new grinding tool. This requires an indepth knowledge of Dynamics and Control Systems, PLC-Computer Control, Ultraprecision Metrology and Dynamic Simulation.
