Engineers Journal to run series of articles from UCD Technical Communications

Top technology periodical, The Engineers Journal, has published the first in a series of articles by Barry Brophy on Technical Presentations.

Barry Brophy, lecturer in Technical Communications in the school, has written a series of articles on technical presentations to be featured over the next five fortnightly editions of The Engineers Journal.

The five articles will be on the challenging task of making a technical presentation which is seen by Engineers Ireland as a vital professional skill in the modern business world. The first artlce, which can be read here, is on the subtle but important difference between 'nerves' (which are actually good for you) and 'caution' (which ruins many presentations).

Articles in subsequent editions will be on topics such as the power of images in technical communication, how experience can stifle creativity, and the importance of feedback and how your boss is often the worst person to give it to you.

These insights have emerged from the school's onging teaching and research work in the are of teachnical communicatoins - read more.
