Optical Freeform Design and Manufacturing - PhD
Applications are invited for a Science Foundation of Ireland (SFI) funded PhD studentship with The Centre of Micro/Nano Manufacturing Technology (MNMT-Dublin)at University College Dublin.
MNMT is a multidisciplinary research group led by Prof. Fengzhou Fang. Our research involves design, manufacturing processes, process monitoring, metrology and applications for industry. Through this research we aim to understand fundamentals, and develop technologies and relevant products based on micro/nano manufacturing.
Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates to join an exciting new project in optical freeform manufacturing. This project represents an exciting opportunity to work on a new multidisciplinary research project. The project can commence in January or September 2017.
Who Should Apply
Applicants should have, or expect to obtain, a first or upper second class honours Bachelors or Masters degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Optical Engineering (or a related discipline).
Suitable candidates will have a strong interest in optics, physics, manufacturing and metrology.
This project is fully funded for four years. The PhD studentship covers tuition fees for EU applicants and a tax free stipend of €18,000 per year. An allowance is provided for research consumables and for conference attendance.
