Professor Patrick Murray

Associate Dean, International Affairs

Professor Patrick Murray is Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and consultant physician at Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.  A graduate of UCD, Professor Murray completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Minnesota and Fellowships in Nephrology, Critical Care Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Chicago

He returned to the School in 2008 from the University of Chicago where he was Professor of Medicine and Director of the Nephrology training programme. 

An experienced clinical researcher, Professor Murray studies approaches to prevent, treat, and provide renal replacement therapy for acute renal failure and is particularly interested in the renal and systemic effects of drugs in critically ill subjects.  He has a particular interest in medication safety and leads a national programme reviewing training for doctors on medicine prescribing.

Professor Murray is a member of the UCD Clinical Research Centre (UCD CRC) Executive Management Team, the UCD CRC Scientific Advisory Committee and is Clinical Director of the Dublin Centre for Clinical Research, a tri-institutional research collaboration involving UCD, TCD and RCSI and their affiliated hospitals.

As Associate Dean with responsibility for international affairs, Professor Murray supports our current and expanding relationships in North America, Malaysia, China and the Middle East.
