Student Summer Electives 2012

Our summer elective programme is a long established feature of the Medicine course at UCD. Clinical and research electives allow students to develop their knowledge and understanding of issues and themes relevant to their study of medicine.

The experience exposes participants to clinical and biomedical research in practice and provides an invaluable insight into the provision and delivery of healthcare at an international level.

The School encourages Stage 5 Undergraduate Medicine students and Stage 3 Graduate Entry to Medicine students to participate in the summer elective scheme. While many students arrange independent electives at home or abroad, the School offers a number of competitive and highly-prized elective scholarships, awarded on the bases of an essay competition.

Student scholarships, sponsored by the School, the Medical Graduate Association, Atlantic Bridge and the UCD Foundation, support electives in a number of Universities including the University of Pennsylvania, University of Kansas, University of California, Emory University, Washington University, and Penang Medical College in Malaysia.

The School is delighted to announce the recipients of the 2012 Summer Elective Scholarships:
