About the UCD Clinical Pathway

Our School is highly dependent on clinicians within our affiliated teaching hospitals, acute, general and specialist hospitals and within primary care centres to deliver the clinical training component of our education programmes and to help drive our biomedical and clinical research programmes.

Introduced in 2008, UCD Clinical Pathway provides formal university acknowledgement of these contributions to academic activities, recognising that many clinicians contribute strongly despite having no protected academic time.

To date, 356 individual clinicians have been appointed under the scheme comprising 194 UCD Clinical Lecturers, 112 Senior Clinical Lecturers, 44 Associate Clinical Professors and 6 UCD Clinical Professors.

Open for Applications

The School opened the UCD Clinical Pathway 2014/2015 for applications on 28th November 2014.  We welcome applications from those who contribute to UCD teaching and/or research or who perform a significant clinical leadership role in Irish healthcare.

Closing date for receipt of applicants is 31st January 2015.

How to Apply

The School has modified the application procedure this year to provide the best possible support to candidates.  Three separate application forms have been created for first time applications, promotion within the scheme and for re-appointment within the same grade.

Applications are now being routed through Academic Section Leaders who will be able to guide on the level of information required and will provide detailed feedback on the outcome of the review process.

Further information on the scheme can be found here.
