Book launch and Fellowship Awards for UCD Professor of Surgery
Prof Ronan O’Connell will join his fellow editors Dr Robert Madoff (Minneapolis) and Prof Michael Solomon (Sydney) at the launch of the 6th edition of Operative Surgery of the Colon Rectum and Anus at the annual meeting of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons to be held in Boston on Monday 2nd June.
Long regarded by colorectal surgeons as the definitive operative textbook in the specialty, the 6th edition is a comprehensive atlas of contemporary operative practice that covers all aspects of operative technique in 83 chapters in 9 sections. Included are 39 new chapters relating to advances in enhanced recovery, minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques.
At the meeting Prof O’Connell will step down after 13 years working as Associate Editor of Diseases of the Colon and Rectum, the premier specialty journal in colorectal surgery. His contributions will be recognized by the award of an Honorary Fellowship of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. Prof O’Connell also recently received an Honorary Fellowship of the American Surgical Association.
Professor O'Connell is UCD Professor of Surgery at St Vincent's University Hospital and Section Leader, Surgery & Surgical Specialties within the UCD School of Medicine.
