UCD MedDay15 A Huge Success
The UCD Medical society is proud to reveal the grand total amount raised on Med Day this year (16th October) was €27,396.60. The funds are being distributed between the six chosen charities: Helium Arts, Debra Ireland, Laura Lynn Children's Hospice, The Mater Foundation, St. Vincent's Foundation and the Berkeley Fund in Aid of Injured Victims.
Over 500 UCD Medical Students took to the streets of Dublin from 7am collecting their hearts out to raise the much needed funds for the chosen charities. Having listened to speakers from the charities the night before, they were motivated to collect as much as possible. As well as the morning collection, the afternoon collection was a huge success with the addition of a fun "Gumball Challenge". This was introduced to increase the level of interaction with the and students from different years, ultimately resulting in more funds being raised.
The committee would like to acknowledge the hard work of all the members who collected, busked or contributed in any way to the success of Med Day 2015. Furthermore, they wish to acknowledge UCD School of Medicine for its ongoing support of Med Day, as well as Med Day sponsors Bank of Ireland and the Medical Protection Society.
As with every year, Med Day would not be such a huge success without the support and generosity of the public and our fellow students on the UCD campus. UCD MedSoc would like to express sincere gratitude and thanks to all those supported and donated to the event. Every donation is so valuable to the chosen charities and the money raised will make a huge difference to each and every one of them
