We extend our sincere condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and patients of Sr Dr Maura Lynch (UCD Medicine 1964) who died recently after 50 years of dedicated clinical and missionary service in Africa. 

Major Research Development in Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukaemia

Researchers at the National Children's Research Centre have contributed to a major breakthrough in juvenile myelomonocytic leukaemia.  The international research group has identified three prognostic subgroups with unique molecular and clinical characteristics through analysis of DNA methylation.

The Summer Student Research Awards (SSRA) Programme 2018 is now open for project submission.  Proposals are sought for eight-week laboratory, clinical, patient-centred or educational research projects, to be undertaken by our undergraduate students  during Summer 2018.  Details of project submission and ethics approval are attached.

Enrolment Commences in Neonatal Clinical Trial

Investigators at the National Maternity Hospital have commenced enrolment of neonatal babies into a European paediatric clinical trial investigating the use of prophylactic oropharyngeal surfactant to reduce the rate of endotracheal intubation for respiratory failure shortly after birth.

The School offers an extensive portfolio of over fifty graduate taught programmes ranging from certificate, through diploma, to master's level across a range of biomedical and clinical specialties.  Our programmes are designed to support continuous professional development of healthcare staff as well as provide specialist education to those working in healthcare support roles.  A number of our programmes are now enrolling for January 2018 start.
