Dr Emma Börgeson MSc, PhD at UCD School of Medicine and Medical Science has been awarded a prestigious, three-year Marie Curie Fellowship. The innovative and much sought-after fellowship will fund Emma's research into obesity-induced pathologic conditions such as kidney disease.

The Inaugural Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland (RAMI) Section of Interns Study Day took place on Saturday 21st April 2012 in the RCPI, Kildare St. A total of 61 abstracts were received from interns representing all Irish Intern Training Networks.

A report on the characteristics of people who donate their bodies to science has found that Irish donors tend to share certain characteristics, including a desire to aid medical science and a tendency to be in long-term partnerships. The study also found that body donors are more likely to have no religious affiliation than the general population.

A UCD School of Medicine and Medical Science PhD student was the recipient of Best Scientific Paper Presentation Award 2012 within the topic "Radiographers" at the recent annual European Congress of Radiology (ECR) which took place in Vienna, Austria.
