Two of our students Ryan Wylie and Jack McCaffrey shared in UCD GAA's first Sigerson Cup success in twenty years. UCD beat defending champions DCU 0-10 to 2-02 in an absorbing match played in difficult conditions at Jordanstown. After the match, players paid tribute to the late Dave Billings, former UCD GAA stalwart who died last April.
As he looks forward to the Olympics in Rio, UCD Elite Athlete, Mark English has opened 2016 with a series of strong performances. Mark finished in second place with a season's best in the 800 metres at the Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix.
The 2016 Clinical Commencement 'White Coat' Ceremony took place at UCD O’Reilly Hall on the evening of Wednesday, 10th February 2016 with key note address by Prof Brendan Drumm. 230 medicine students were presented with their white coats by members of the faculty, witnessed by family members and watched via a live webstream by over 300 viewers around the world.
The John Fitzpatrick Irish Prostate Cancer Conference 2016 will take place at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on 21 & 22 April 16. This multidisciplinary meeting will bring together leading Irish and UK health care professionals with an international faculty of oncology and urology experts. Registration is now OPEN.

The School has announced 47 new adjunct academic appointments and 27 progressions within the 2015 UCD Clinical Pathway. The 2015 UCD Clinical Pathway appointments bring our clinical faculty to 428 adjunct staff members comprising 9 UCD Clinical Professors, 60 UCD Associate Clinical Professors, 132 UCD Senior Clinical Lecturers and 227 UCD Clinical Lecturers.
UCD Radiography & Diagnostic Imaging have announced details of two Summer Schools focused on computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging modalities. The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Academy Summer School takes place from Wednesday 8th - Friday 10th June 2016 with 1-, 2- and 3-day options available to suit radiographers and registrars of all ranges of expertise.
The Computed Tomography Academy Sumer is aimed at Radiographers who have not yet completed formal postgraduate studies in Computed Tomography (CT) but have either undergone ‘in-house’ training in CT, or have an interest in training or specialising in CT. This three-day course will take place over the 20th - 22nd June 2016. The aim of the CT Academy is to equip Radiographers with key CT principles that are relevant to their daily professional practices. This progamme is endorsed by the Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiation Therapy for CPD purposes.
The School has announced 8-12 week summer research elective opportunities at Simon Fraser University Vancouver during Summer 2016 for up to five students from the UCD School of Medicine. Closing date for receipt of applications is 13:00 on Wednesday 10th February 2016.
