Moustachioed Campaigners for Men’s Health and Prostate Cancer Research
This November, Professor Bill Watson and his research team are seeking moustachioed campaigners to help Movember and UCD change the face of men’s health. Professor Watson is UCD Principal Investigator with the Prostate Cancer Research Consortium.
School to Host INMED Conference on Patient-Centred Medical Education
The 6th scientific meeting of the Irish Network of Medical Educators (INMED) will take place from Thursday 21st February to Friday 22nd February 2013 at University College Dublin (UCD). The theme of this year’s conference will be Patient-Centred Medical Education: Human Factors, Patient Safety, Learning from Patients.
UCD Medical Students Win Jack Flanagan Medal in Gerontology
A team of four UCD Medicine students fought off strong competition from their counterparts in other Irish medical schools to take the Jack Flanagan Medal in Gerontology. The competition is named after Ireland’s first geriatrician, Dr Jack Flanagan who was the first doctor in Ireland to specialise in modern day geriatric medicine.

Elisa fought off intense competition from nearly 50 exceptional young researchers to take the much-coveted title. UCD Professors Join Forces with Concern 1000 DAYS Campaign
Professor Fionnuala McAuliffe, Head of Women and Children’s Health, UCD School of Medicine and Medical Scienceand Professor Cecily Kelleher, Head oftheUCD School of Public Health, were lead supporters at the launch of Concern’s 1000 DAYS Mother to Mother campaign, which took place on October 2nd in Dublin.
UCD Professor Awarded Prestigious British Medical Association Book Award
Newborn Surgery, Third Edition edited by Professor Prem Puri, was awarded 1st Prize at the British Medical Association Award Ceremonly on 13th September. This is the first time that the speciality of Paediatric Surgery has recevied the prestigious BMA Award.
