Celebrating 10 Years of Undergraduate Student Research

The School celebrated 10 years of undergraduate student research with its annual Student Summer Research Awards evening at the UCD O'Brien Centre for Science on the 13th October 2016.  Ms Leia Judge took the Gold Medal in a closely fought Oral Presentation competition.  We were delighted to welcome distinguished guests including former staff and SSRA student participants from previous years to the awards evening. 

From Student Research to National Workshop

Making the theory of 'multidisciplinary care' work in real world clinical practice is the focus of a workshop delivered by a team from UCD School of Medicine and the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. The workshop was developed following a SSRA summer student research project by Bashayer Almaazmi (UCD Medicine Stage 4) which highlighted that effective care of patients with hepatitis C infection requires close cooperation between a wide range of health and social care professionals and agencies.

Student Report on U21 Health Sciences Summer School

During Summer 2016, UCD sponsored three students to attend a Universitas 21 Health Sciences Summer School at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile in Santiago. One of the students, Lok Yi Tan (UCD Medicine Stage 4) reports on her experience of this adventure.

We offer our congratulations to Professor Des Fitzgerald who has been announced as the next President, University of Limerick.  Prof Fitzgerald will become the fourth UCD Medicine alumnus to hold the top office in a leading University.

Mater Neurologist Develops National Framework for Model of Care in Neurology

A new framework model of care for neurological services in Ireland developed by Prof Tim Lynch was launched recently at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.  The publication aims to define the future set up of acute and chronic neurological services in Ireland.

UCD Medicine Clinical Pathway 2016/2017 Now Accepting Applications

The School invites applications for adjunct academic appointment or promotion under the 2016/2017 UCD Medicine Clinical Pathway.  Applications will be accepted from the 1st October 2016 to the 9th December 2016.  The formal review of applications will take place during the second semester and it is hoped appointments will be announced before the end of the current academic year.
