Conferring & Gala Dinner | 2012

Congratulating the Class of 2012

Students and staff of UCD School of Medicine and Medical Science extend their heartfelt congratulations to the UCD Medicine class of 2012. On Thursday 7th June, graduands assembled at O'Reilly Hall for a formal conferring ceremony, followed by the presentation of student and teaching awards at the annual UCD Medicine Gala Dinner.

A total of 181 students were awarded MB BCh BAO degrees by the President of UCD, Dr. Hugh Brady. Following the conferring of degrees, the annual UCD Medicine graduation address was delivered by Professor Colm O'Brien, Professor of Ophthalmology at UCD & Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin. 

In the afternoon, the Dean of Medicine Professor Bill Powderly, presented awards, in the presence of students, families and UCD staff, for outstanding academic performance. Professor Powderly commended each of the awardees for the commitment, focus and determination that defined their time at UCD School of Medicine and Medical Science.

Gala Dinner 2012

In the evening, graduates, family members, faculty and representatives from the medical and healthcare community assembled at O'Reilly Hall for the annual UCD Medicine Gala Dinner. This occasion represents an important and celebratory milestone in the education and development of our students. 

At the gala dinner, a number of additional awards were presented by UCD President, Dr Hugh Brady.
