Dr Jonathan McNulty

Associate Dean, Graduate Taught Studies

Dr Jonathan McNulty is Lecturer in Radiography, Head of Subject, Radiography and the School's inaugural Associate Dean for Graduate Taught Studies.

A graduate of UCD’s BSc in Radiography, Jonathan completed a Higher Diploma in Magnetic Resonance Imaging at Trinity College Dublin whilst working as a radiographer at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.  He was appointed as Lecturer in Radiography at the UCD School of Medicine in 2005 where he has held a succession of leadership roles.  He has coordinated the BSc Radiography programme, has overseen 20 postgraduate programmes, has been Head of Education Development within UCD Diagnostic Imaging since 2003 and was appointed Head of Subject, Radiography in April 2016

Dr McNulty was a University Fellow in Teaching and Academic Development from 2011 – 2013 and completed his PhD in 2014.  His research interests include medical education research, optimisation, neuroimaging and image perception. He has delivered over 90 conference presentations, contributed to over 40 journal articles and has held significant national and international research grants.

Dr McNulty is former Chairman of the Erasmus Radiography Group, a consortium of 16 academic institutions from across Europe, and former Chairman of the Radiographers Scientific Subcommittee for European Congress of Radiology.

He was elected to the Board of the European Federation of Radiographer Societies, representing over 110,000 radiographers across Europe, in November 2014 where he currently holds the position of Vice-President. He represents the EFRS on matters relating to Education and Research.  He is an Executive Board Member of the European Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine & Biology and is Associate European Editor of the Elsevier journal, Radiography.

Dr McNulty is an ex officio member of the School Management Team and member of the School Executive Management Committee.
