The School boasts a complement of over 165 academic staff, 230 funded research investigators and, with the creation in 2007 of Dublin Academic Medical Centre, an adjunct faculty comprising some 350 hospital consultants and over 300 junior doctors in training.
School staff are based at nine locations on the Belfield campus, at our affiliated teaching hospitals and across our clinicial training network.
Our large and expert faculty span all biomedical and clinical subject areas. The majority are active researchers contributing to the discovery of new knowledge as well as enthusiastically imparting this information to our students. Many are clinicians who practise in the community, in acute hospitals or in specialist care centres. Several hold senior leadership positions within the University, at our teaching hospitals or across the Irish health service.
Our academic workload model encourages our staff to be teacher, researcher and academic leader. All are characterised by their accessibility to our students and by their commitment to delivering the best possible educational experience.
Adjunct Clinical Faculty
Our teaching and research efforts are supported by an extensive adjunct clinical faculty comprising general medical practitioners, hospital consultant, radiographers and scientists.
These staff are appointed by the University through the following schemes:
- Adjunct & Visiting Academic Staff
- Dublin Academic Medical Centre Consultant Appointments
