University College Dublin was awarded an Athena SWAN bronze institutional award in March 2017. This award is an acknowledgement of the university's commitment to improving gender equality and that it has demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of gender equality issues and has enacted an action plan to tackle them.
The School of Medicine is committed to supporting gender diversity, equality and inclusion and is working towards submitting an application for a bronze departmental award in April 2019. A self assessment team (SAT) has been formed to collect the necessary data, generate an action plan and write the application. The SAT is co-chaired by Marguerite Clyne and Denis Shields.
