A seminar on the topic of Consent, Capacity and Medical Treatment will take place on Thurs 15 Feb 18 from 17:30 – 21:00 at the Merrion Hotel. The seminar will address current medico-legal best practice in Ireland in relation to consent in medical treatment and will compare this with best practice in the UK. The Assisted Decision Making Act will come into law in Ireland shortly and we will also touch upon how this new Act will affect the taking of consent, the determination of capacity and what this means on the ground for practitioners. The Seminar will be chaired and addressed by the President of the Medical Council of Ireland, Dr Freddie Wood.

The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and the Mater Private Hospital are holding a study day on MRI scanning of patients with pacemarkers and ICD's in situ. The study day takes place on Thursday 15th November 2018 at the UCD Catherine McAuley Education & Research Centre, Nelson Street. The aim of this event is to encourage hospital sites with a cardiology and radiology department in situ to carry out MRI scans on patients with MR conditional pacemakers and ICDs in situ.
