A seminar on the topic of Consent, Capacity and Medical Treatment will take place on Thurs 15 Feb 18 from 17:30 – 21:00 at the Merrion Hotel. The seminar will address current medico-legal best practice in Ireland in relation to consent in medical treatment and will compare this with best practice in the UK. The Assisted Decision Making Act will come into law in Ireland shortly and we will also touch upon how this new Act will affect the taking of consent, the determination of capacity and what this means on the ground for practitioners. The Seminar will be chaired and addressed by the President of the Medical Council of Ireland, Dr Freddie Wood.
The UCD Social Medicine Society presents Ideas for Change 2018 on Thursday 1st March 2018 from6:30pm in C006, UCD Health Sciences Centre. Ideas for Change is an interfaculty team competition. Four teams will compete against each other to come up with the best and most innovative solution, idea and proposal related to the chosen social medicine topic and will be judged by a panel of experts.
