The CT Academy will take place on 24th - 26th June 2015. The initial three-day course will address current CT technology and recent developments with consideration for radiation protection and dose reduction. Frequently used CT protocols will be evaluated with emphasis on patient preparation, positioning and parameter selection. Students will also learn how to perform common post processing tasks.

It is open to all UCD researchers including Systems Biology Ireland, Charles Institute, Clinical Research Centres, the Conway Institute, UCD School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science and UCD School of Medicine and Medical Science. A meeting for interested PIs will be held w/c 29th June to get input on the roll out of the programme (first call opens 1st October 2015) as well as to discuss the thematics.

The RAMI Section of Interns Study Day will take place in the Corrigan and Graves Hall, RCPI, Kildare St on Saturday 31st January 2015. 320 abstracts have been received from interns across all Intern Training Networks to be considered at the Study Day. The presentations will consist of both oral and poster presentations with the RAMI Bronze Medal being awarded to both the best poster and platform presentations. All abstracts will be published in the Irish Journal of Medical Science.

Mr Leo Varadkar T.D.  Minster for Health, Department of Health will be in attendance as a guest speaker and Professor Patrick Murray, Dean of Medicine and Head of UCD School of Medicine and Medical Science will present the awards.

Dr Kenneth Offit MD PhD is a medical oncologist and cancer geneticist whose research focuses on defining genetic factors that cause increased cancer susceptibility.

Best wishes to Robert Foley and John Langan who represent UCD Medicine in the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland's annual Spike Milligan Public Speaking Competition which takes place on 25th of November 2015 at 6.30pm in the Sugar Club in Dublin.

This Public Speaking Competition was first held in 1999 as part of the Changing Minds Campaign of the College, addressing the stigma associated with mental health problems.  Spike Milligan generously leant his name to the competition.  It honours his great work as an advocate for those affected by mental ill health.
