Cancer Cachexia - State of the Science - Knowledge, Assessment and Management

Key Speaker - Dr Martin Chasen 

Medical Director of Palliative Care at the William Osler Health Service in Brampton, Toronto. Dr Chasen was Medical Director of the McGill Cancer Nutrition-Rehabilitation Program, Montreal and founded the Palliative Rehabilitation Program at the Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital, Ottawa. He was the principal investigator on numerous cachexia research studies and is editor-in-chief of the open access peer reviewed journal Current Oncology.

Topics will include:

  • An overview of the current evidence base regarding the assessment and management of cancer cachexia
  • Developing a service to manage cancer cachexia
  • Experiences in pioneering practice change and the case for palliative rehabilitation to manage cachexia symptoms
  • Clinical case studies
  • Original research on cachexia syndrome: Canadian and Irish perspectives

 
Who Should Attend: 

Doctors, nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals, educators and managers working in all healthcare settings.
