UCD Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF) Launch and Research Showcase

Staff and students are cordially invited to the UCD Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF) Launch and Research Showcase on 15th June 2017 at 12pm in the UCD Conway Foyer,  where we will be introducing our first awardees of the ISSF Schemes.

The aim of ISSF is to help UCD’s researchers within the biomedical and clinical sciences, and medical humanities to overcome systemic barriers to career and network development, ultimately unlocking future research potential within the University and beyond.

In May this year, the University completed the first call of two of our schemes; The Mid-Career Stimulus & Diversification Scheme, aimed at mid-career academics; and the Clinical Primer Scheme, aimed at early-stage medical and veterinary professionals.

With the support of the SFI-HRB-Wellcome Trust Biomedical Research Partnership, and with matched funding from UCD, it has been possible to support four candidates in the Mid-Career Scheme;

  • Assoc. Prof. Orina Belton
  • Assoc. Prof. Amanda McCann
  • Prof. Emma Teeling
  • Assoc. Prof. Margaret McGee.

Four individuals were also supported in the Clinical Primer Scheme;

  • Dr. Conor Magee
  • Dr. David Crosby
  • Dr. Clodagh Kearney
  • Dr. Conor McAloon

We encourage you all to please join us to support all awardees on the day, as they introduce themselves and give a short overview of their proposed research.  Lunch will be provided to all attendees.
