Welcome to UCD Academic Mentoring

The purpose of Academic Mentoring is to support the professional development of academics in their careers and to promote excellence in teaching and learning, research and academic leadership.  Generally, mentoring will be made available to support those in the early stages of their career.  However some Colleges have decided to make mentoring more widely available so if you are interested in Mentoring, check details within your own College.

An Academic Mentoring Committee has been established within each College to oversee the process and to support both Mentors and Mentees.  Details of the Committee members can be found on this website.  Committee members within your College will be able to guide you and advise you on the availability of mentoring and any other queries you may have in relation to the process.

Academic mentoring is confidential and entirely voluntary and is a partnership built upon trust and mutual respect.  It is totally separate from the Performance Management Development System (PMDS).

As well as the information contained on this website, briefing sessions will be made available for both Mentors and Mentees.  We hope that you will find mentoring a useful additional support and we welcome your feedback at any stage on how to improve the process as it evolves.
