Indicative Module Description

This course focuses on the interaction between the immune and nervous systems at molecular, cellular and systems levels.  It provides an overview of current and developing concepts in Neuroimmunology from both Neuroscience and Immunology perspectives. It aims to familiarise students with

1.- The molecular and cellular elements of interconnectivity between the  immune and nervous systems and

2.- The effect of neuro-immuno interaction on physiological responses and disease processes

3.- The course will comprise 12x3hr seminar-style sessions designed to encourage interatcion and discussion between lecturers and students

Indicative Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course students should be able to:

1.- Appreciate how recent developments in neuroimmunology are changing established concepts in both immunology and neuroscience

2.- Evaluate new developments from a perspective that encompasses concepts and paradigms from both immunology and neuroscience perspectives

3.- Apply neuroimmunological concepts to their own research
