EDUC42110 Children's/Youth Minor Dissertation

Academic Year 2016/2017

This module requires students to bring together their thinking and learning deriving from their studies of children and youth and to frame this in terms of a defined series of research questions. Students will be assigned a supervisor to support them in the proposal/research development.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module will have

1. Identified a research question in relation to children and youth and provide a clear rationale for the research question(s)

2. Demonstrated critical understanding of the field of research they are drawing on and capacity to synthesize theory and research through a review of literature in the area

3. Demonstrate critical understanding of the range of research methodologies appropriate to their research question, including data sources, sampling and proposed methods of analysis

4. Conduct a small scale study of their chosen research topic and analyse and evaluate and present in line with dissertation requirements.
