This module aims to provide teachers with an introduction to assessment for all students, including those with additional support needs (ASN). It will provide students with an overview of the national policies and legislative requirements that currently inform school assessment practices and policies. In particular, the use of assessment within the Teacher Allocation Model (TAM) is explored, as are the benefits and challenges involved in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive school assessment policy. The module will encourage teachers to critically examine the assessment policy in their schools and determine how school policy can support the fundamental link between assessment and individualised planning for students with ASN.
