FIN41520 International CorporateFinance

Academic Year 2021/2022

The module takes the view that there exists an international or global context in which corporate financial decision making occurs. Therefore one needs to be sensitive to this global context.

The module will adopt a ‘real options framework’ in addressing a firm’s strategic investment decisions. “Real Options” is a modern valuation standard for evaluating and analyzing capital investment decisions in the face of uncertainty. The real options approach is an extension of option pricing theory for managing real assets. The focus will be on developing ‘real options reasoning’ rather than focusing solely on the technical aspects of modeling in a real options framework. Topics addressed in this module will include strategic investment decision making, financing of technology, strategic value in a competitive context, global mergers and acquisitions, international corporate governance.
