By the end of the module students should be able to:
1. write clear Italian short texts appropriate to specific purposes;
2. communicate clearly and effectively in spoken Italian, in a number of given situations;
3. comprehend, explain, summarise and translate passages of Italian prose at the required level;
4. show the required mastery of specified grammatical rules
The activities of this module will broadly follow the content of 'Al Dente 3' (Casa delle Lingue Edizioni) and four main topics:
• Music and emotions
• Sport and wellbeing
• Sustainable objects and environmental art
• Technology and communication

This is part 1 of an intermediate language course. To enrol for it students must have passed ITAL 10030 (Italian Language Ib) or equivalent. They should not take this module if they do not have the required standard. If in doubt they should contact the module coordinator.

Continuous assessment is scheduled throughout the course. Class tests will be individually marked and group feedback will be given to students the week after each test has been completed. Students will sit a final two-hour exam in December.
