MUS20410 Music History Since 1750

Academic Year 2023/2024

The module provides a survey of the history of Western art music from around 1750 through to the early twenty-first century. It will foreground both the development of musical styles, on the one hand, and the ever-changing musical cultures that gave rise to those styles, on the other. In so doing it will pay attention both to individual musical works and the ways in which those works were first composed, performed, and heard.
