PHTY40940 Case Study in Connected Health I

The aim of this module is to provide the student with an opportunity to undertake a self-directed programme of learning in an area related to the field of Connected Health. Students will work with the module coordinator to identify a specific learning activity or opportunity that will serve as the central component of the module – this may take the form of (but is not limited to) a conference/workshop, summer school or short-term scientific mission in the field. Students will have the opportunity to meet with the module coordinator prior to undertaking the specified learning activity, and as they progress through the term to discuss their case study and receive formative feedback on their assignment.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this module students will have demonstrated the ability to:

1. Seek out an appropriate specified learning opportunity enhance their knowledge base in Connected Health

2. Prepare a written report that describes their motivation and rationale for choosing the activity, the knowledge gained, and reflection on personal development inn the field.

3. Articulate the value of connected health through the prism of the knowledge gained in the specified learning activity.

Indicative Module Content:

In this module you will collaborate with the module coordinator to specify a series of self directed learning activities that will form the basis of the module content. These learning activities might include a placement in an industry partner or attendance at a summer/winter school event that is outside UCD. You will work with the module coordinator to identify the specific activities that best suit your needs.
