SSJ20140 Human Rights & Social Justice

Academic Year 2023/2024

This module addresses crucial human rights and social justice issues in Ireland and around the world. It explores:

The origins of human rights;
Their current status in international and domestic law, and;
How they are activated to advance the goals of social justice movements.

We evaluate human rights from a critical and interdisciplinary perspective, investigating their limits and potential in tackling contemporary social problems such as racism and poverty.
