The Irish Drug Delivery Network (IDDN) is a network of scientists led by David Brayden, Professor of Drug Delivery at UCD, advancing research efforts to replace injections with oral and inhaled versions of biotech molecules (e.g. proteins and gene-based medicines).

The main topics of research are:

  • Improvements in Sigmoid’s oral peptide formulation using calcitonin (sCT)
  • Novel sCT: hyaluronic acid nanoparticle for intra-articular delivery for inflammatory arthritis
  • siRNA in a cyclodextrin vector for treatment of Huntington’s disease in a mouse model
  • Formulation of Arch’s peptide for prevention of bleeding laproscopic surgery
  • Testing of Aerogen’s device for sCT and siRNA delivery in rodents
