Irish Entrepreneurs to Reveal Secrets of Success at NovaUCD “Entrepreneurs Live!” Seminar Series - Students and academics get inside track on entrepreneurship

Leading Irish entrepreneurs, including Anne Heraty the Ernst & Young 2006 Irish Entrepreneur of the Year, will reveal the secrets of their success at the forthcoming NovaUCD “Entrepreneurs Live!” seminar series. The seminar series commences on 2 October and runs each Tuesday lunch time until 20 November. The aim of “Entrepreneurs Live!” is to promote a spirit of entrepreneurship among the academic, research and student population at UCD. The seminars are organised by NovaUCD in association with the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Enterprise Board.

The series will be launched on 2 October by Stephen Flood, Gold Investments. Other speakers include Howard Beggs, Helix Health; Philip Sharpe, Cape Technologies; Raymond Russell, Corvil and Anne Heraty, CPL Group.

At the “Entrepreneurs Live!” seminars the guest entrepreneurs talk about their experiences of setting-up and running their businesses emphasising the highs and lows encountered along their entrepreneurial journey and highlighting the secrets of their success. During each seminar, attendees will have the opportunity to ask probing questions of the guest entrepreneur.

The seminar series takes place each Tuesday lunch time (1 pm to 1:50 pm) from 2 October until November 20 in the William Jefferson Clinton Auditorium, UCD, Belfield and attendance is open to all.

According to Dr Pat Frain, Director, NovaUCD, “The “Entrepreneurs Live!” seminars attract a large and diverse audience and stimulate a lively and enthusiastic debate on issues relating to entrepreneurship and innovation and the establishment and development of technology companies.” He added, “The ongoing level of interest at these seminars is evidence of a growing culture of entrepreneurship at UCD which augurs well for Ireland’s ability to generate the new knowledge-intensive and innovative companies which are so critical for the continuing development of Ireland’s knowledge-based economy.”

Speakers at previous seminars have included Barry Maloney, Benchmark Capital and Director of Bebo.com; Eamonn Fallon, Daft.ie; Angela Kennedy, Megazyme Ireland International; Colum O’Sullivan, Cully & Sully and Oliver Tattan, Vivas Health.

According to Michael Johnson, CEO, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Enterprise Board, “The Entrepreneurs Live!” seminars enable the attendees to gain an insight into the daily commercial and personal challenges that entrepreneurs encounter in developing and managing their enterprises.” He added, “The speakers draw from their own experience and offer invaluable advice and share their secrets on how to sell a proposition into the marketplace, how to raise funding and how to hire the right people.”
