This bilingual conference – La Migrance à l’oeuvre: repérages esthétiques, éthiques et politiques – aims to explore the work of migrancy across literature and the arts in the broadest sense, examining how it tests and stretches identities and how it effects transculturation and even translingualism.
While emphasising the links between migrancy and aesthetics, the conference will also investigate the ethical and political dimension of the work of art as a locus of intersubjective and intercultural relation. This venture, bringing together speakers from Canadian, French, Irish, British, Dutch, Belgian, Spanish and Tunisian universities, is generously supported by UCD’s School of Languages and Literatures and by the French and Canadian Embassies: the Canadian Ambassador will attend some of the proceedings and the French Ambassador will host a reception for the speakers.
