Natasha McShane Collection

On Friday 22 March, UCD student Natasha McShane was assaulted while returning to her residence in Chicago. Natasha is a student on the Masters in Regional and Urban Planning degree and is on an exchange with the University of Illinois. She is currently in a stable condition in the Northwestern Memorial hospital and her parents have flown to the USA to be with her.

Students and friends have begun fundraising for Natasha, beginning with a campus collection today. They are also organising a barbeque at Richview on Saturday afternoon 15 May, coinciding with the end of exams and we ask that you support them generously. Students will collect on campus and donations can also be made directly to a fund organised by the students in the Urban Planning and Policy Student Association at University of Illinois via http://www.uppsa.org/

The president, Dr Hugh Brady has extended his sympathy and support to Natasha’s family. Senior university staff have been in contact with colleagues in the University of Illinois and messages wish her a full recovery have been sent to her parents. Natasha’s family has asked for privacy at this time.
