Explore UCD - supported by boi logo

As part of UCD’s support for the Gathering 2013 we are encouraging our alumni, visitors to Ireland and the local community and their friends to come and explore our parkland campus, its buildings and centres of culture. During late spring and summer we are organising a series of guided tours to explore UCD. Tours cover the period houses and their estates that form todays Belfield campus, the state-of-the-art buildings developed in the last decade, and the public art and woodland walks that enrich our campus.

What does the Explore UCD tour comprise?

Explore UCD is a walking tour of  approximately 2.5km and lasting 75 to 90 minutes through the history, culture and latest developments on the UCD Belfield Campus. Stops include:

  • Gerard Manley Hopkins International Centre
  • UCD Quinn School of Business
  • UCD Sutherland School of Law
  • Merville House (Nova UCD)
  • Belfield House
  • UCD Engineering and Materials Science Centre
  • New natural water feature and biodiversity habitat
  • Newman Building & James Joyce Library
  • UCD Lake
  • O’Reilly Hall
  • UCD Science Centre
  • UCD Veterinary Science Centre
  • Woodview Lakes and biodiversity habitat
  • UCD Health Sciences Centre, Conway Institute and Charles Institute
  • UCD Student Centre

The tour is led by UCD Student Ambassador Tour Guides at a leisurely pace allowing time to take in the campus and discuss areas of interest. Not all buildings will be entered on the tour.

Who is the Explore UCD tour for?

The tours are open to all on a first-come-first-served basis. We are encouraging our 160,000 plus alumni, visitors to the campus and the local community to take the tours.
