Production Diseases of the Transition Cow
Dairy Solutions Symposium
Astra Hall, Student Centre, UCD
28 - 29 Sept, 2006
Production diseases of the transition cow are a major source of economic loss and a cause of poor animal welfare throughout the dairy industry. The UCD School of Agriculture, Food Science and Veterinary Medicine, University College Dublin has once again joined forces with Alltech® to tackle this global issue head-on during a two day Dairy Solutions Symposium.
The aim of this symposium is to bring together the leading scientists from across the world to discuss issues such as: fatty liver and ketosis, ruminal acidosis, hypocalcaemia, nutrition and immunity, and uterine health.
The Symposium will:
- Explore the role of production diseases in lost production and poor reproductive performance.
- Integrate basic understanding with strategies for the prevention and treatment of production diseases.
- Present the latest information on best practice for production disease prevention and treatment.
- Provide a forum for the sharing of technical information and the latest research.
- Provide a useful interface for the debate of research findings and their application for on-farm problem solving.
This symposium is aimed at veterinarians, farm advisors, nutritionists and dairy researchers. Undergraduate and postgraduate students and staff will be in attendance.
