UCD National Institute of Technology & Innovation Management
Paralleling the Government's initiative to develop innovation and to
transform Ireland into a Knowledge Based Economy, the Institute was established
in 1997 with the support of Enterprise Ireland.
- The mission of the National Institute is to build the capability of Irish-based companies to manage Technology & Innovation at the highest international level and to raise the profile of technology management nationally.
- Its specific role is to develop the technical entrepreneurs and professional managers of technological innovation who will lead Irish-based companies to the international forefront. The Institute pursues its mission by teaching, research, industry outreach and input to national policy.
The National Institute of Technology Management is inherently multi-disciplinary with the Institute's research and taught programs built on the skills and experience of UCD's Colleges of Business & Law, Engineering, Mathematical and Physical Sciences and Life Sciences
Why is Technology & Innovation Management Critical?
It is a clear national objective to make Ireland a Knowledge Based Economy. Ireland has no future as a low wage country: we must compete internationally in value-added products and services delivered on time and at a competitive cost.
The Government in the NDP is investing large amounts of money to develop
our science and technology base. Enterprise Ireland and the IDA aim to
move Irish and multinational companies up the value chain by innovation.
Our ability to manage the generation of scientific and technical knowledge
and its successful commercialization by existing and new firms will be
critical to realizing these ambitious objectives.
