Welcome to the UCD Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems Clinical Allocations Office. The office is located on the second floor, B2.17 and B2.18 in the UCD Health Sciences Centre. The BSc Nursing and BSc Midwifery Programmes incorporate periods of clinical placements in a variety of health care settings. An Bord Altranais, the body which regulates Nursing and Midwifery in Ireland, specify recommendations regarding the type and duration of clinical placements. The function of the Clinical Allocations Office in UCD School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems is to ensure that each nursing and midwifery student is afforded the opportunity to gain experience in the clinical areas stipulated in An Bord Altranais regulations.
The Health Screening and Vaccination Programme is also co-ordinated from this office.
Students can view their clinical allocations and associated details through a specialist electronic system used by the Clinical Allocations Office called ARC. At the beginning of the BSc Nursing and BSc Midwifery Programmes students are assigned an ARC account together with a username and password. Using this system ensures the following:
- ARC allows students to access information about their clinical placements, their geographic locations, the instructions required prior to commencement of a clinical placement and the students absenteeism whilst on clinical placement.
- ARC also allows students to access information about their Health Screening and Vaccination Programme.
