Biography:
| Maria Brenner is currently Head of Subject for Children's Nursing and Programme Coordinator for the Graduate Diploma in Nursing (Paediatric Critical Care) and MSc Child Health in the School of Nursing, Midwifery & Health Systems. She obtained her PhD, MSc and BSc from UCD and is a Registered Children's Nurse, a Registered General Nurse and a Registered Nurse Tutor. Her clinical background is in intensive care nursing and she currently holds an honorary clincial position with Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin. Her current research interests include research utilisation, evaluating wound dressings for children with thermal injuries, feasibility analysis of KPIs, the practice of restricting children for clinical procedures and the transitional care of children with complex technological needs. |

| The restriction of children for clinical procedures, evaluation of wound dressings for donor site healing in children (collaborative research with Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin, feasibility analysis of KPIs for A&E (collaborative research with Dr Abel Wakai), research priorities for children's nursing, research utilisation in children's and general nursing and clinical leadership. |

Outreach Activities
| 2009 - 2011: Developed and delivered an education programme, together with Prof P. Larkin, Dr M O'Reilly & Dr. M Devins, for Chernobyl Children's Project International in Belarus. Ongoing work includes providing strategic leadership on service delivery for children on long term ventilation, guidance to the Irish Association for Palliative Care and hosting educational training for Belarussian clinical staff. |
