Clinical Skills Laboratories
The clinical skills laboratories are an integral part of the UCD School of Nursing Midwifery and Health Systems aiding the delivery of skills to undergraduate and postgraduate students and providing an important resource for research activities within the school.
The clinical skills laboratory suite consists of six teaching rooms, a dedicated office for managing the facility, an audio visual recording and editing hub, a treatment room, a sluice room and three equipment storage rooms. The six teaching rooms also termed clinical skills laboratories are simulated hospital wards containing 6 hospital beds each, bed tables, bedside oxygen and suctioning equipment to replicate the hospital ward setting and enable students to practice a variety of nursing skills.
A wide and varied catalogue of mannequins and models ranging from low to medium and high fidelity simulators are available in the clinical skills suite to assist the delivery of skills and aid the development of scenarios for the transfer of training in all strands of nursing and midwifery.
