Tethras Takes on 16 Staff in 6 Months

- Company to target Far East markets with app localization platform

- Plans to double workforce in next two-years

Tethras, which enables app developers to easily adapt their software into over 40 languages, has grown to 16 staff members within the last 6 months.

The company, founded in 2010 by Brian Farrell and Brendan Clavin, provides the world’s first Localization-as-a-Service platform for mobile application developers. Tethras has seen a significant growth in customer acquisitions and revenues since its launch in the US market earlier this year.

The staff are located between Tethras’ Irish headquarters at NovaUCD, the Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre, and the company’s US offices in Mountain View, California.

Among the recent hires are Matthew Gonzales and Steven Troughton-Smith. Matthew Gonzales, an experienced executive from the mobile app sector, has re-located to Ireland to become Tethras’ Vice-President for Business Development, from a similar role in Silicon Valley. Steven Troughton-Smith (@stroughtonsmith) the company’s Mobile Architect, is an internationally renowned Irish app developer with numerous published apps and 20,000 twitter followers.

Tethras’ cloud-based localization service provides its customers with a fast, uncomplicated and significantly more cost effective way of getting their apps into the hands of non-English speaking smartphone users. Its platform enables translators and developers to preview what a translation will look like within the app itself resulting in a more accurate translation.

Brian Farrell, CEO, Tethras, said, “We are delighted at the success of our US launch and the subsequent increase in revenue. The significant increase in the number of international customers demonstrates that there is a huge global demand for Tethras’ localization services. This uptake in Tethras services has enabled us to employ a significant number of staff here in Dublin and in the US.” He added, “In the coming 6-months Tethras will continue to invest in R&D and marketing activities, ensuring that our expansion continues to include Far East markets.” He concluded, “We further expect a doubling of current staff numbers within the next two-years.”

The Tethras platform streamlines the localization process allowing app developers to spend more time creating new apps and less time maintaining and updating their apps for multiple markets. The Tethras platform supports apps for Apple, Android and Windows devices.

Tethras will be representing the Dublin region in the final of the InterTradeIreland 2011 All-island Seedcorn Business Competition which takes place next week in Dublin. At the final Tethras will be going head-to-head with other regional winners from Northern Ireland, Munster and Connacht & Leinster for the title of overall Best High Growth Company and a prize worth €100,000.

Tethras, an Enterprise Ireland High-Potential Start-up (HPSU) client company, is currently finalising a funding round.
