VideoCrisp, based at NovaUCD, the Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre at University College Dublin, was founded in 2011 by serial entrepreneur Abhinav Chugh. He previously established Waybiz.com, an Enterprise Ireland funded B2B trust portal, in 2010. VideoCrisp is also a participant on the Enterprise Platform Programme at the Synergy Centre, IT Tallaght.

Video marketing is now essential for businesses and according to eMarketer (2012) online video advertising spending should jump 40% to $3.1 billion in 2012. In addition several studies have shown that a website with video content is over 50 times more likely to appear on Google’s first search page than a website with no video content.

YouTube, world biggest video hosting site and second biggest search engine after Google, has recently announced that over 4 billion videos are viewed on its website every day, and 60 hours of new video content is uploaded every minute.

Despite the potential of video marketing, making a professional video is expensive, requires technical expertise and can be a cumbersome and a time-consuming process all of which are hurdles for start-ups and SMEs to overcome in order to embrace video marketing.

Abhinav Chugh, CEO and founder said, “VideoCrisp will empower start-ups, small businesses and marketing professionals to fully avail of the potential and power of professional videos, in an easy and cost effective manner, to assist them in their sales and marketing activities. We look forward to formally launching VideoCrisp in March.”

He added, “At the launch, VideoCrisp will announce details of a cutting-edge technique that will be the first of its kind in the cloud-based video editing industry. This new editing technique will empower end users with amazing video editing capability on both web and mobile.”

VideoCrisp has to date raised €100,000 in early-stage funding, including €50,000 from Enterprise Ireland’s Competitive Start Fund.

Abhinav Chugh has extensive experience in tech start-ups, IT and online product development. He has previously worked with large multi-national clients such as O2 Ireland, T-Mobile UK, Bell Canada and LVMH Japan.

In 2009, while completing his MBA at the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School he got the idea of building trust between global businesses through recommendations and clients details and incorporated Waybiz.com. Waybiz.com helps buyers find trusted vendors locally and globally on the strength of their verified recommendations and business referrals. Waybiz.com currently features over 27,000 client recommendations from over 70,000 businesses in 110 countries.
