Ojax++ is a Virtual Research Environment (VRE). It aims to help researchers work collaboratively by providing a project management and collaboration interface for research activity conducted using third party tools like Delicious, Gmail and MyExperiment.
Ojax++ is being developed at UCD School of Information and Library Studies (SILS), with the collaboration of UCD School of Computer Science and Informatics.
Ojax++aggregates your documents, communications and events from around the web, you can use tags to sort them into useful project streams for you and your colleagues to work and collaborate with.
A typical project stream might contain bookmarks form Delicious, calendar events from Google Calendar, tweets from Twitter, citations form Connotea and workflows from MyExperiment. Regardless of which web applications you use to conduct your research you can organise and collaborate on your work—in one place—using Ojax++.
Here are just some of the tools which seemlessly integrate with Ojax++:

News
Source code of OJAX++ is now available
The source code of OJAX++ is now available on GitHub under the permissive BSD licence. Just because the source code has been released doesn't mean that development will stop, stay tuned for further developments on the OJAX++ codebase.
Usability testing in Zoology
A team of 7 postgraduates will be evaluating the usability of OJAX++ with the cooperation of UCD Zoology researchers this summer. They are: Fintan Bracken, Daniel Earls, Catherine Madders, Faye O'Leary, Stephanie Ronan, Paul Tolan and Ciara Ward
Ann Walsh has joined the team and will be investigating future funding strategies for OJAX++.
Open source OJAX++
The OJAX++ application is to be made available under an open source licence in the near future. Watch this space!
SFI/ISIN Showcase,Dublin
Judith will be giving a presentation on OJAX++ at
the "Industry Focused SFI/ISIN Showcase in SFI Funded Software Research" at the
Burlington Hotel, Dublin, on 19th October 2010.
Nuala Connolly joins the team
Research assistant Nuala Connolly joins the OJAX++ team today. Nuala will be exploring future strategy for Ireland in research, development and use of VREs.
iHCI Conference, DCU, Dublin
Dave will be presenting a poster about Ojax++ on Friday afternoon (3 September) from 12:45—14:00 at iHCI. iHCI 2010 is hosted in DCU, 2 to 3 September 2010.
Judith gave a workshop on Virtual Research Environments and the Librarian at Digital Libraries à la Carte 2009, Tilburg University, the Netherlands, 28th July - 5th August 2009.
