Reports

Report from the Partnership Committee following its meeting held on 25 April 2001

Main Discussion Points

Retirees
A draft proposal regarding facilities for retirees of the University was discussed. It was suggested that a booklet should be supplied with a retiree staff card, detailing services, facilities, contacts and benefits to be derived from usage of the staff card. Final proposal to be presented at the next meeting.

Skillsnet Partnership Facilitation Network Launch
Representatives from those organisations subscribed to the Skillsnet Network attended the launch. Delegates found the day informative and attendees made suggestions on how the training programme events could be improved upon.

UCD Pension Plan
Mr Joe Fitzpatrick of Mercer gave a comprehensive presentation on the UCD Pension Plan. Ms Cecily Corrigan, Operations Manager, and Ms Margaret Agnew, Personnel Officer, Pensions, also attended.

Staff Facilities
A listing of staff facilities currently available in UCD was presented to the Committee. This list is currently being updated for the UCD Staff Manual.

Action Points
The joint secretaries will follow up with the Safety Office on the new staff health services proposal.

It was agreed that once a recommendation from the Partnership Committee has been passed, it should be widely publicised in the wider UCD environment.

It was agreed that discussion on National Pay Agreements should be deferred to a later Partnership Committee meeting.

It was suggested that the Vice President for Planning and Faculty Development give a presentation to the group at a later date, that may deal somewhat with concerns raised, regarding  decision making and general management processes in UCD.
